Ghanaian actor-turned-politician John Dumelo has committed to resolving the housing challenges faced by students at the University of Ghana, Legon, residing in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

During an open dialogue hosted by TV3 as part of the Community Manifesto series, Dumelo, who is the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the constituency, highlighted the pressing issues confronting students in the area. He criticized the current representative, Lydia Alhassan, for neglecting these critical concerns.

Dumelo emphasized the high cost of student accommodation and pledged to address this issue if elected, aligning his plans with the NDC’s manifesto. “The first thing we are going to do is to address the accommodation issue of the students. It’s very dear to my heart. I don’t think ever since she (Lydia Alhassan) assumed office she has been able to construct one hostel for the students in the university,” he said.

He further outlined his priorities, asserting that the construction of hostels for students throughout Ayawaso West Wuogon would be a top priority. “The most important thing for us is to construct the hostels for students across Ayawaso West Wuogon. Remember that every policy of the NDC is progressive, not instant, because we want quality, not quantity,” Dumelo added.
