An Accra Circuit Court has set bail at GH¢200,000 each for two individuals implicated in the burglary of Lilian Kumah, the widow of late former Deputy Minister of Finance, John Kumah.

Adams Sanogo, a trader, and Rabiu Falilu, a recent Senior High School graduate who allegedly received some of the stolen goods, were each granted GH¢200,000 bail under specific conditions.

The court, led by Judge Isaac Addo, required both men to provide two sureties residing within the court’s jurisdiction. One surety must be a public or civil servant earning at least GH¢3,000 per month, with pay slips verified by their employer. The case is scheduled for further hearing on September 3, 2024.

Sanogo is accused of stealing money, electronics, and other items from Kumah, in collaboration with the fugitive Kwame Dunga.

The stolen items reportedly include US$50,000, GH¢50,000, an iPhone 15 Pro Max valued at GH¢15,000, an Apple iPad worth GH¢15,000, a Samsung Z Fold phone costing GH¢12,000, a Microsoft laptop priced at GH¢7,000, a black school bag valued at GH¢400, and an Apple Watch. Both Sanogo and Falilu deny the charges.

The police are actively searching for Dunga. According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Raymond Ackom, Kumah, residing in Achimota-Mile 7, Accra, reported the theft after reviewing CCTV footage.

Falilu was arrested on July 24, 2024, in Jamasi, Ashanti Region, with the stolen iPhone 15 Pro Max. He subsequently led police to Sanogo’s location in Adum PZ, Kumasi. Sanogo admitted to selling the stolen phone to Falilu and named Dunga as his accomplice.

Both men have been charged and await further court proceedings.
