Access Bank’s Commitment to Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Ghana

Fifty female entrepreneurs have successfully completed the sixth edition of the Access Bank Womenpreneur Pitch-A-Thon, receiving financial support and business development assistance to grow their businesses.

The program, aimed at empowering women in business, offered various forms of support, including financial grants, website development, business protection, and digital marketing assistance. Three outstanding participants were awarded GH¢100,000 each to scale their enterprises.

The top winners were Khadija Osman of Osikalim Food Processing, Geneviva Baidoo of Vieva Bee Enterprise, and Emmanuella Tordman Khadija of Dr Do God Limited. Wilhelmina Ametepeh also received the Access Bank MD’s Special Prize of GH¢20,000, awarded to entrepreneurs with disabilities.

Pearl Nkrumah, Executive Director of Retail and Digital Banking at Access Bank Ghana, shared that the initiative, which began in Ghana over 10 years ago, has seen the bank invest over 1 million in cash prizes and other support for women-led businesses.

Matilda Asante-Asiedu, Group Head for Retail Banking, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to women entrepreneurs and highlighted the program’s positive impact on job creation and livelihoods. She also thanked key partners such as Coronation Insurance Ghana and Development Bank Ghana for their support.

One of the winners, Geneviva Baidoo, expressed gratitude for the funding, which she plans to use to rebuild her business after a fire last year. She also mentioned her continued commitment to donating to orphanages.

The Womenpreneur Pitch-A-Thon, powered by Access W, remains a transformative platform for female entrepreneurs, providing them with the resources, skills, and capital needed to succeed in Ghana’s business world.
