Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has extended his condolences to traders impacted by the devastating fire in Adum, the Central Business District of the Ashanti Region.

The fire, which erupted in the early hours of Friday, March 21, destroyed several shops and properties, leaving many traders in distress.

During his visit to the site on Tuesday, March 25, Dr. Bawumia referred to the incident as “deeply unfortunate” and assured his support for the affected individuals.

Accompanied by former government officials and New Patriotic Party leaders, Dr. Bawumia offered words of comfort to the victims.

To help the traders rebuild their businesses, he made a generous donation of GH¢200,000 in financial aid, along with 1,000 bags of cement.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of immediate relief efforts and urged the authorities to take proactive measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“This contribution is a small way to help you get back on your feet. I will continue to support you in any way I can,” he stated.

Many traders expressed their appreciation for the donation, highlighting how both the financial support and cement would be crucial in helping them recover.

“We’ve lost everything, but this gesture gives us hope,” said one affected shop owner.

As investigations continue into the cause of the fire, the community remains optimistic that lasting solutions will be implemented to protect their livelihoods from future disasters.
