Controversial Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has opened up about the reasons behind his shift from Christian ministry to embracing traditional worship.
In 2023, Edochie announced his divine calling and plans to establish his own ministry. However, he later revealed that he felt a deep sense of incompleteness while preaching the Christian gospel.
According to Edochie, he experienced a spiritual emptiness that led him to seek divine guidance, which ultimately directed him to reconnect with his ancestral roots in Nteje.
“I felt something was missing. Then God spoke to me, ‘Go home and learn about your people. How can you preach about the Israelites when you don’t know about your own people from Nteje? Return and understand the traditional worship and practices of your ancestors, for they are also blessed by God,’” he explained.
Edochie stressed that his decision wasn’t a rejection of Christianity but rather a recognition that traditional worship is also divinely acknowledged.
Since embracing this path, Edochie shared that he now feels spiritually whole and deeply fulfilled. He also mentioned that reconnecting with his heritage has provided him with a sense of belonging that he never experienced while solely practicing Christianity.
