Tim Africa Aid Ghana, a non-governmental organization (NGO), has officially commissioned new toilet facilities at two health centers in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region. The health centers in the beneficiary towns of Ayomso and Asumura are set to benefit from the upgraded infrastructure, which replaces the dilapidated toilet structures that had posed significant health risks.

In an interview with Adom News, Isaac Kwabena Kakpeibe, the Executive Director of Tim Africa Aid Ghana, explained the motivation behind the new construction. He noted that the previous toilet facilities had become a health hazard, putting both patients and health workers at risk of contracting diseases.

“The decision to build new toilet facilities comes in response to the need to mitigate health risks. These outdated and deteriorated structures were not only unsanitary but also a breeding ground for various diseases,” Kakpeibe said.

He emphasized that the NGO’s core mission is focused on combating Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and providing sustainable solutions to individuals affected by them. The new toilet facilities, he said, align perfectly with the organization’s overarching goal to improve public health conditions.

Both Samuel Obeng, the In-Charge of Ayomso Health Center, and Duah Joseph, the In-Charge of Asumura Health Center, expressed their deep gratitude to Tim Africa Aid Ghana for the support. They shared that the previous toilet facilities had become increasingly difficult to maintain, resulting in significant health risks for both staff and clients.

“We are extremely grateful to Tim Africa Aid Ghana for these new facilities. The old toilets were in a deplorable state, and the health risks associated with them were growing. This new structure will certainly enhance sanitation and improve conditions for everyone,” said Obeng.
