NACOC Arrests 3 in Major Drug Raid in Atimpoku

Story Highlights
  • Three suspects arrested in intelligence-led raid in Atimpoku
  • Suspected narcotics and trafficking tools seized
  • Raid follows weeks of surveillance by NACOC and security agencies

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspected drug traffickers during a coordinated operation targeting several locations in Atimpoku earlier today.

The intelligence-driven raid, described as swift and strategic, represents a major step forward in dismantling a suspected drug trafficking ring operating throughout the Eastern Region and beyond.

The arrests followed several weeks of covert surveillance and intelligence gathering, conducted by NACOC in collaboration with national security agencies. The suspects were apprehended at various residences, where quantities of suspected narcotic substances were found hidden.

In addition to the drugs, authorities seized equipment believed to be used for processing, packaging, and distributing illegal substances.

The confiscated items have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis. Investigations are ongoing to determine the scope of the suspects’ operations.

NACOC has chosen not to release the identities of the suspects at this stage to protect the integrity of the investigation. The individuals had reportedly been under surveillance for some time due to their suspected involvement in regional and cross-border drug trafficking.

This raid signals NACOC’s strengthened resolve to crack down on drug networks across Ghana. The agency has warned that more operations of this nature will follow.

The Commission also called on the public to support the anti-narcotics fight by reporting any suspicious drug-related activities in their communities.
