Advise Akufo-Addo to Ensure a Peaceful Handover – Asiedu Nketiah Appeals to Chiefs and Clergy

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on traditional leaders and religious figures to advise President Akufo-Addo to facilitate a smooth transfer of power following the December elections.

This appeal follows recent demands from the Chiefs of Damang/Ahwrese in the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency for a calm electoral process.

Asiedu Nketiah criticized the President for allegedly condoning electoral violence and for failing to implement recommendations from a committee investigating these issues.

He emphasized that maintaining stability relies on Chiefs and Clergy holding the President accountable.

Asiedu Nketiah urged, “If our leaders are genuinely committed to peace, I call upon you to advise the President to ensure a peaceful handover as his term concludes. He inherited a nation at peace; let him ensure that peace continues as he leaves office.”

He further addressed the traditional leaders and clergy, stating, “You hold substantial influence. Your truthful guidance is powerful, and no politician will defy your counsel. We urge you to use your authority to support a peaceful transition.”
