- Sammy Gyamfi Teases Upcoming Revelations in OSP Airbus Report
- OSP clears Mahama of wrongdoing in Airbus scandal.
- No evidence of bribery found in aircraft purchase.
- Gyamfi suggests future accountability for leaders.
Sammy Gyamfi, National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has hinted that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will face accountability similar to former President John Dramani Mahama’s experience in the Airbus investigations.
Gyamfi emphasized that Mahama subjected himself to investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and emerged unscathed.
He noted that people should not complain when Akufo-Addo and Bawumia are held to the same standard of accountability post-January 7, 2025. Gyamfi’s comments come after the OSP exonerated Mahama of bribery and wrongdoing in the Airbus SE scandal.
The OSP’s investigation, which began in February 2020, found no evidence of bribery or wrongdoing by Mahama or any public official. Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng briefed journalists on the findings, stating that no evidence linked Mahama or other officials to bribery.
The Airbus bribery scandal involved the purchase of military transport aircraft by the Ghanaian government. Gyamfi’s statement suggests that Akufo-Addo and Bawumia will face similar scrutiny, hinting at future events with the phrase “Tomorrow is pregnant.”
The NDC has consistently called for accountability and transparency in government dealings, and Gyamfi’s comments reinforce this stance. The OSP’s report and Gyamfi’s statement have sparked attention, with many awaiting potential future developments in the matter.
