Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to assure Ghanaians of his commitment to a peaceful electoral process in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Asiedu Nketiah emphasized the importance of Akufo-Addo addressing the nation not only as leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but also as President of Ghana, ensuring a smooth transition without any violence.
“We have heard your message on NPP platforms, but we are yet to hear from you, Mr. President, committing yourself to a peaceful, fair, and transparent election,” Asiedu Nketiah stated during the NDC campaign launch at Tamale on Saturday July 27.
He urged Akufo-Addo to declare his readiness to respect the election outcome and facilitate a peaceful transfer of power, similar to past Ghanaian leaders.
He further called for Akufo-Addo to restrain his appointees from abusing their power for partisan interests, emphasizing the need for neutrality and fairness in the electoral process.
