NATO member countries have reaffirmed their commitment to Ukraine’s future membership and pledged additional aid, including F-16 fighter jets and air defense support.

While a formal timeline for Ukraine’s membership was not established, the alliance’s 32 members expressed “unwavering” support for Ukraine’s war effort and acknowledged Russia as the most significant threat to security.

The US, Denmark, and Netherlands are transferring F-16 jets to Ukraine, which will be operational this summer.

NATO will also establish a new unit to coordinate military aid and training for Ukraine, deepening ties between the alliance and Ukraine.

The joint statement emphasized Ukraine’s progress on democratic, economic, and security reforms, paving the way for eventual membership when conditions are met.

The alliance’s support is seen as crucial for Ukraine’s security and a bridge to its eventual NATO membership.
