The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has announced that it has released over GHC300 million in payment of claims to healthcare facilities across the country. This information was contained in a statement issued by the authority on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
According to the statement, the amount covers claims vetted for higher tier facilities up to January 2024. For lower tier facilities, the payments are within the acceptable three-month debt period. The Acting Chief Executive of the Authority, Dr Aboagye Da-Costa, stated that the release demonstrates NHIA’s commitment to maintaining the smooth operation of healthcare services.
Dr Aboagye Da-Costa also emphasized that the disbursement aims to enhance the quality of care provided to all NHIS members. The payment also supports the operational needs of healthcare providers, ensuring the sustainability of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
