Newsfile to examine EOCO case, tribunals bill and NPP polls

Newsfile, the current-affairs programme carried on Multimedia Group platforms, is scheduled to return on Saturday, July 18, with discussions planned around several legal, governance, environmental and political matters.

According to a programme preview published by MyJoyOnline, the four-hour edition will be hosted by Samson Lardy Anyenini and will air from 8am to noon on JoyNews, Joy FM and Luv FM.

One of the subjects listed for discussion is the reported GH¢50 million bail case involving Dennis Miracles Aboagye, former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation. The programme is expected to consider legal and constitutional questions connected to proceedings involving the Economic and Organised Crime Office and Aboagye, who is also described as a member of the New Patriotic Party’s communications team.

The panel will also examine Parliament’s reported passage of the Tribunals Bill, 2026. MyJoyOnline said the measure has drawn opposing views from the governing side and the Minority, with the government presenting it as an effort to modernise the tribunal system and the Minority raising due-process and fairness concerns.

Environmental governance is also on the agenda, including Achimota Forest, illegal mining and proposals to amend Ghana’s mining laws. A planned discussion on a closed-door engagement involving the Governor of the Bank of Ghana will consider questions about transparency in matters of public interest.

The programme will further turn to constituency elections of the opposition NPP.

The discussion topics reflect matters that have featured prominently in Ghana’s public debate in recent days, according to the programme preview.
