Police divert traffic after truck blocks Birimso Bridge on Accra-Kumasi Highway

Police have announced temporary traffic diversions after a crash involving a heavily loaded articulated truck blocked Birimso Bridge on the N6 section of the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
According to a public notice cited by MyJoyOnline, the incident made the affected stretch impassable to traffic travelling in both directions between Accra and Kumasi.
Officers from the Eastern South Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department, based in Kibi, were deployed to manage traffic at the scene, the police said.
Temporary routes announced
The police said Accra-bound vehicles were being diverted through Kibi at Nsutam, while Kumasi-bound traffic was being diverted at Apedwa. The diversions took effect from 10am, according to the notice.
Motorists and other road users were advised to use the alternative routes and follow directions from officers stationed at the affected points while efforts continued to clear the bridge.
The report did not provide information on any injuries, the cause of the crash or when normal movement on the route would resume.
