The National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has emphasized the need for free, fair, and credible elections in Ghana.
Speaking at a durbar of chiefs and people of Axim in the Western Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stressed that maintaining peace is easier when the electoral process is open, transparent, and credible.
She urged leaders to promote peace and development, particularly in the lead-up to the December presidential and parliamentary elections.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed hope that Ghanaians will elect leaders dedicated to serving the people, citing the importance of servant leadership.
She specifically endorsed Hon. Kofi Arkoe Nokoe, the current Member of Parliament for Axim, urging the people to retain him in the upcoming elections.
Highlighting the NDC’s past achievements in Axim, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang mentioned key projects, including the Axim Sea Defense Project and the asphalting of town roads.
She also promised to revert the Axim mini harbour project to its original plan, which was altered into a landing beach.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang addressed the issue of illegal mining, assuring that the next NDC government will not associate with or appoint individuals involved in galamsey.
She commended the chiefs for their unity and vision in promoting development and called for continued unity, tolerance, and peace among the people of Axim.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang concluded by urging the youth to abstain from violence and assured Ghanaians that the NDC is committed to peaceful elections, calling on chiefs to ensure the Electoral Commission upholds fairness.
