Father Demands Justice After Son’s Fatal Stabbing at O’Reilly SHS
- The father claims that teachers were aware of the altercation between his son and the classmate
- The father expressed frustration
- The father accused the school of restricting access to the premises after the stabbing
The father of Edward Borketey, an 18-year-old final-year visual arts student fatally stabbed by a classmate at O’Reilly Senior High School, is demanding clarity from school officials about his son’s death.
In an emotional interview on September 3, 2024, he recounted the distressing sequence of events leading to his son’s death and voiced his frustration over the lack of intervention by school authorities before the violent confrontation.
He described receiving alarming news from his niece about a fight involving Edward, only to find out that his son had been stabbed and was left bleeding on the school grounds while teachers seemed indifferent.
“I was on my way to the school when I learned that Edward had been stabbed by the boy he was fighting with. He was lying on the school premises, and the teachers were just sitting there,” he recalled.
The grieving father expressed disappointment over the absence of communication from both the police and the school since the incident. “The police haven’t contacted us, and neither have the school officials. We haven’t heard from the family of the boy who killed my son. We are here seeking justice and answers. We need to understand how a student could stab his friend.”
He also criticized the school’s response, noting that police presence at the school has restricted access and hindered any dialogue with the authorities. “The police are preventing us from entering the premises, and no one from the school is coming forward to speak with us. This situation is heartbreaking,” he said.
