The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing national security as it prepares to implement its flagship 24-hour economy policy. To achieve this, the party has outlined a comprehensive security plan, which includes several key initiatives.
Firstly, the NDC plans to recruit 25,000 additional security personnel to bolster the nation’s security forces. This move aims to enhance the capacity of security agencies to maintain law and order, ensuring a safe environment for economic activities to thrive.
Another key aspect of the plan is the introduction of community policing initiatives, which will foster closer collaboration between law enforcement and local communities. This approach recognizes the importance of community involvement in maintaining security and preventing crime.
The NDC also plans to upgrade ICT infrastructure to enhance intelligence gathering and sharing capabilities. This will enable security agencies to respond more effectively to emerging threats and keep citizens safe.
Additionally, the NDC pledges to establish specialized hospitals for security personnel and veterans, recognizing their unique needs and sacrifices. At a media briefing in Accra, the party’s spokesperson on security, Peter Lanchene Toobu, emphasized the NDC’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of both citizens and security personnel, paving the way for a secure and thriving 24-hour economy.
