Sammy Gyamfi, National Communications Officer of the NDC, has announced that the party’s next government will prioritize strict asset declaration policies for public officials. He emphasized the party’s commitment to ensuring full disclosure of assets by public officers, making this information accessible to the public.
Gyamfi outlined the party’s intention to make asset declarations mandatory and publicly accessible. He criticized the existing asset declaration framework for its lack of transparency, which he believes is the reason it’s not working effectively.
Gyamfi explained that the NDC plans to revise the law on asset declaration to make it transparent and accessible to the public. Under the NDC government, all government officials will be required to make their asset declarations public, published in national newspapers and on official government websites.
This will allow every Ghanaian to scrutinize the assets of public officials, promoting good governance and curbing corruption. Gyamfi identified two critical issues with the current system: lack of transparency and absence of strict enforcement.
To rectify these, the NDC will establish a new system where asset declarations are made public and easily accessible, with strict penalties for non-compliance. Gyamfi warned that under an NDC government, failure to adhere to asset declaration laws will not be tolerated, and non-compliant public officials will face removal from their positions.
