Mr. Dan Botwe, Member of Parliament for Okere, underscores the pivotal role of teachers in shaping the character and molding the youth, particularly in today’s technologically advanced era.

During the Okere District Teachers Award ceremony, Mr. Botwe emphasized that teachers’ responsibilities extend beyond traditional teaching to include instilling discipline and fostering strong moral values among students.

He commended teachers in Okere for their dedication to improving education standards, recalling their efforts in implementing innovative educational initiatives that have enhanced academic outcomes, such as extra classes and boarding facilities for BECE candidates.

Mr. Botwe, on behalf of the Master Dako Foundation and his siblings, donated GHC 50,000 towards the awards ceremony and pledged an additional GHC 50,000 annually for the next four years to support teacher recognition in Okere.

The event recognized 20 teachers across various categories, with Mr. Eric Darko from Nifa Senior High School honored as the best teacher in the district, and Ms. Bernice Hanson of Adukrom Presbyterian Primary School recognized as the best headteacher.

Dr. Mrs. Ivy Asantewa Owusu, Eastern Regional Director of Education, and Ms. Agnes Abban, Okere District Director of Education, lauded the awardees for their outstanding contributions to education and expressed optimism that such recognition would inspire others to strive for excellence in the teaching profession.
