Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has signaled his desire to return to football management, amidst speculation linking him with the vacant England job.

This comes after Gareth Southgate stepped down following England’s narrow defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

Potter, 49, is reportedly one of the potential candidates to succeed Southgate, alongside other names like Newcastle’s Eddie Howe and England U21 boss Lee Carsley.

Potter departed Chelsea in April 2023, and has since been evaluating potential opportunities. “I’ve spoken to a few clubs,” he revealed to Sky Sports, “but I’m waiting for the right fit.”

He emphasized the value of the break he’s had: “It’s been good to recharge and reflect. Moving across three countries with a young family takes its toll. This time has allowed me to see other sports, teams, and places – a valuable experience.”

Looking ahead, Potter expressed his enthusiasm: “I feel completely ready and energized to return to the dugout when the right opportunity arises.”
