The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has shed light on his decision to choose Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his Running mate for the upcoming Presidential election on December 7. Dr. Bawumia explained that his choice was influenced by the need to maintain the North-South and Muslim-Christian representation in government, which has been a hallmark of the NPP.

Moreover, he sought a partner with a strong background in party politics and grassroots engagement to complement his own strengths as an academic and technocrat. At a ceremony in Kumasi, Dr. Bawumia formally introduced Dr. Opoku Prempeh to the NPP faithful, describing their ticket as a symbol of youth, future aspirations, and forward thinking for Ghana’s development.

Dr. Bawumia expressed his confidence in Dr. Opoku Prempeh, praising him as a problem-solver and generational thinker, and stating that he has absolute faith in his abilities. The NPP Flagbearer hinted at the upcoming launch of the Party’s 2024 Election Manifesto, which will outline the policies and aspirations of the Party.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the Manifesto will serve as a blueprint for the Party’s vision for Ghana’s future. He expressed his optimism that the NPP’s Presidential ticket will resonate with Ghanaians, particularly the youth, who are eager for visionary leadership.
