The President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, has urged traditional leaders to exercise caution in their interactions with politicians during the campaign season. Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II cautioned the chiefs to be mindful of their utterances and to advise the youth not to be used by politicians to cause chaos. His warning comes on the heels of the endorsement of former President John Dramani Mahama by the Chief of Breman, Baffour Kotei Kutin Sraman II, during a public lecture at the Christian Service University.

Baffour Sraman II had described Mahama as the “in-coming President” and expressed his belief in his return to power. Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II addressed the members of the National House of Chiefs on Friday, June 21, 2024, and emphasized the need for peaceful campaigning.

He encouraged the chiefs to promote peace and stability in the country, and to advise the youth to refrain from violent behavior. The President of the National House of Chiefs also urged political parties and their supporters to prioritize the preservation of peace and stability in their actions.

He emphasized that the country’s peace and stability should be the utmost priority, especially during the election season. Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II’s caution serves as a reminder to traditional leaders to maintain their neutrality and promote peace, while also exercising their right to vote.
