The National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, is set to embark on a day-long tour of three major markets in Accra. The tour, scheduled for Thursday, will take her to Mallam Atta, Kaneshie, and Makola markets in the Greater Accra Region.

During her visit, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang will engage with various stakeholders, including market women, traders, shop attendants, shoppers, kayayei (head porters), commercial drivers, and passengers. The tour aims to provide a platform for Prof. Opoku-Agyemang to interact with the market community, listen to their concerns, and share the NDC’s plans for women’s financial empowerment.

One of the key policies she will discuss is the proposed establishment of a Women’s Development Bank, designed to support women in business. The bank will provide access to loans with flexible payment terms, benefiting approximately one million women entrepreneurs, including food vendors, market women, bakers, hairdressers, and dressmakers.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s tour is expected to highlight the NDC’s commitment to empowering women and promoting economic growth. By engaging with market women and traders, she aims to understand their challenges and showcase the NDC’s solutions for addressing them.

The tour will also provide an opportunity for Prof. Opoku-Agyemang to showcase her party’s dedication to supporting small-scale businesses and promoting economic development. Through this initiative, the NDC hopes to make a positive impact on the lives of women entrepreneurs and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
