During the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign ahead of the December 7 general elections, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang endorsed the integrity of former President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking in Tamale, Northern Region on Saturday, July 27, 2024, the former education minister emphasized that Mahama is the leader Ghana needs, describing him as “truthful and respectful.”

Reflecting on Mahama’s previous tenure, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang asserted that he has learned from past experiences and is bringing forward new ideas.

She expressed satisfaction that Mahama chose not to give up on the country and declared confidently that he is prepared to “rescue, stabilize, and redeem this country.”

Addressing a large gathering at the event, Mahama acknowledged Ghana’s progress during his previous presidency and pledged honesty and service if elected again. He lamented the current challenges facing the nation and vowed to be transparent in his actions and promises.

In the upcoming elections, Mahama, with Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate, seeks to return to the presidency and potentially make history by electing Ghana’s first female vice president. Their main competition is Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the energy minister.
