- Guilt and shame drove him to take his own life.
- Police investigate, family informed.
A tragic incident has occurred in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region, where a young man, Joseph Amaley, has allegedly taken his own life after misusing funds meant for a family project. According to reports, Amaley, who was in his late twenties, was found hanging at the Plant Unit of Wangkang, a ceramic company at Eshiem, on Friday, June 28, 2024.
Assembly member for Eshiem, Joseph Bismarck Eshun, confirmed the incident to Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show, stating that Amaley had been working at the company but resigned after his uncle, living abroad, began sending him money for a family house renovation project.
Eshun revealed that Amaley had spent all the money sent by his uncle, but the project was nowhere to be found, leaving him with no explanation for his uncle’s investment. With his uncle set to return to Ghana, Amaley was overwhelmed by guilt and shame, leading him to take his own life.
Before his death, Amaley had reapplied to the company and was re-employed, but his past actions continued to haunt him. In a chilling message to a friend, Amaley expressed his unhappiness and hinted at taking his own life. His lifeless body was later found hanging at the company premises, leaving his family and friends in shock.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and Amaley’s family has been informed of the tragic news. The incident serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of mismanaging resources and the importance of accountability, especially when it involves family and loved ones.
