Police have apprehended 22 individuals for their alleged involvement in illegal mining operations in Dominase Nkwanta, Adjakaa Manso, and other areas within Ghana’s Western Region.
The suspects were taken into custody by the Western Central Police Command on April 8, 2025. They have been identified as Albert Adu Bonsra, Stephen Kwakye, Richard Atigah, Yaw Menanyi, Al-Mustapha Alidu, Jutu Francis, Hakitu Zibo, Nana Yaw Boakye, Kwesi Evans, Isaac Cobby, and Bashiru Ali.
Others arrested include Atta Francis, Ayew Sali, Fataw Gariba, Kwame Emmanuel, Kwesi Francis, Abapor Frank, Wasah Moses, Bukari Haruna, Abdulai Lukman, Yeboah Rashid, and Alkainu Hassan.
In a statement released by the police, it was revealed that several tools and equipment believed to be used for illegal mining were seized from the various sites. These included eleven (11) pumping machines, seven (7) shovels, a pickaxe, and two (2) chamfan machines.
“All the suspects are in Police custody and are being processed to face full rigours of the law,” the statement confirmed.
