Minority Blasts Majority Over Poor Attendance in Parliament

- The Minority caucus slams the Majority for poor attendance in Parliament
- First Deputy Speaker suspends session due to lack of quorum
- Professor Kingsley Nyarko urges the NDC to take their duties seriously
The Minority caucus in Parliament has criticized the Majority caucus for their poor attendance during Friday’s parliamentary proceedings.
Their concerns were raised due to the failure to meet the required quorum, as the necessary minimum of 91 Members of Parliament was not present for business on March 7, 2025.
As a result, First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor had to suspend the session.
Speaking to journalists about the issue, Kwadaso MP, Professor Kingsley Nyarko, expressed his frustration.
“We need at least one-third of the House to begin proceedings. We come here to work because Ghanaians elected us to represent them. The NDC claims to be the super majority, yet they struggle to get their members to attend parliamentary duties,” he said.
“What happened today is embarrassing. How long will this continue? We want Ghanaians to be aware of this and urge our colleagues in the NDC to take the business of the House seriously. The people of Ghana are relying on us to address their needs and aspirations,” he added.
