NPP Minority Calls on President Mahama to Publish Load-Shedding Timetable

The minority caucus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Parliament has urged President John Mahama to release a load-shedding timetable to help businesses and individuals better manage the ongoing power crisis.
Former Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adams made this call during a press conference on Monday, March 3, following President Mahama’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Dr. Amin Adams criticized President Mahama’s handling of the country’s energy crisis, pointing out the failure to resolve the issue.
“Your record on ‘dumsor’ is abysmal, especially when compared to your predecessor, Nana Akufo-Addo, who ensured a stable power supply. As we return to ‘dumsor’ in another Mahama term, Ghanaians are fearful and anxious about the damage this will cause to their businesses, particularly small businesses like hair salons, welders, dressmakers, and many others who rely on daily income from their trades,” he said.
He further explained that many businesses and households are already grappling with the consequences of unreliable power supply, with some forced to use generators in shops, clinics, and even during social events.
Dr. Amin Adams accused Mahama of misleading the public by claiming in his SONA address that the power crisis had been resolved before he left office, insisting that the issue remained unresolved and was, in fact, stabilized under the NPP administration.
“This is the true state of our nation, not what was presented to Parliament. To mitigate the effects of these power challenges, we, the ‘mighty minority’, urge the government to immediately publish a load-shedding timetable to allow people and businesses to plan accordingly and minimize some of the economic losses currently being endured.”
