- Akpeteshie seller granted GH¢10,000 bail
- Accused of biting customer's testicle over GH¢2.40 debt
- Pleads guilty with explanation, claims self-defense
The Assin Fosu District Court, presided over by His Worship Abdul Majid Iliasu, has granted bail to Esi Affumwaa, a 48-year-old Akpeteshie seller and farmer. Affumwaa is accused of assaulting a customer by allegedly biting his testicle.
Affumwaa was granted bail in the sum of GH¢10,000 with two sureties, one of whom must reside within the court’s jurisdiction. Inspector Matilda Osaah Buaben, leading the prosecution, informed the court that the incident occurred on Wednesday, February 26, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m. at Assin Wurakese Camp in the Assin Fosu Municipality.
According to the prosecution, the complainant, Karim Osman, 36, a farmer, visited Affumwaa’s residence to purchase a cigarette. However, a dispute arose over a debt of GH¢2.40, escalating into a confrontation. The accused allegedly struck Osman’s head with a piece of firewood before biting his testicle, causing severe injury and profuse bleeding.
Following the incident, Osman complained to the police, leading to Affumwaa’s arrest. During interrogation, Affumwaa admitted to harming Osman. However, in court, she pleaded guilty with an explanation, stating:
“I acted in self-defense after the complainant allegedly caused me to fall.”
Affumwaa denied biting Osman’s testicle, claiming instead:
“I squeezed it during the altercation.”
