A severe traffic gridlock has gripped the Doli Bridge after a truck carrying tin tomatoes overturned earlier today, causing significant delays for travelers.

The truck, registered AS 7638-15, was crossing the highway when the accident occurred, leaving more than 100 vehicles stranded. The majority of the affected drivers were transporting goods toward Wa and heading south.

Eyewitness Karim Fedege, a driver traveling from Bole to Wa, explained that the truck driver struggled to shift gears as the vehicle approached the bridge. “The driver failed to shift gears properly upon reaching the bridge,” Mr. Fedege said. “In an attempt to apply the brakes, the truck rolled backward and overturned, with its cabin facing upwards and its cargo blocking the highway.”

As traffic continued to back up, Mr. Fedege urged authorities to take swift action to prevent similar incidents in the future. “I call on the police, road safety authorities, and regional ministers to take immediate action to improve the Doli Bridge and the Techiman-Wa highway to prevent further accidents,” he said.

The road has remained blocked for several hours, and drivers who have been stuck in the congestion for more than seven hours are growing increasingly frustrated with both the delay and the poor road conditions.

The truck driver is currently receiving medical treatment at the Bole District Hospital.
