Story Highlights
  • Fire hits Kejetia Market, affecting 2 shops
  • Firefighters contain blaze within an hour
  • 23 shops saved, no casualties reported

Kejetia Market was once again struck by a fire outbreak in the early hours of Tuesday, February 12, 2025, causing damage to two commercial shops. The fire, which broke out at 3:50 a.m., affected shops that deal in chemicals, fabrics, and coat linings.

The market’s fire patrol team and security guards were the first to respond, using dry chemical powder extinguishers and water to contain the flames. Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) arrived shortly after and quickly took control of the situation.

The fire was extinguished within an hour, thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of the firefighting team. Due to their intensified patrols and tactical response, the fire was kept from spreading beyond the two affected shops.

Out of the 25 shops initially at risk, 23 were successfully saved, preventing what could have been a major disaster.

This incident follows a similar fire outbreak at Kejetia Market on January 24, 2025. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in either incident, although the two shops involved in the most recent fire sustained partial damage.
