Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has paid tribute to Nana Yaa Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani Mmrosa II, the late Queen of the Nkoranza Traditional Area in the Bono East Region. The revered Queen passed away at the age of 105 while receiving treatment at a traditional health facility. Her death was officially announced on March 29, 2024.

The burial rites for the late Queen began in line with tradition on Friday, November 29, 2024, with the Asantehene attending the final funeral rites on Monday, December 2, 2024, as the Queen laid in state prior to her burial.

Accompanied by a significant entourage from the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the Asantehene joined other respected traditional authorities from across Asanteman to pay their respects to the late Queenmother. The solemn ceremony was underscored by a vibrant display of Asante culture and tradition.

Nana Yaa Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani Mmrosa II was highly regarded for her lifelong advocacy of unity and child education, which formed the foundation of the Nkoranza Queenmothers Association. She led the association until her death, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire.

In Nkoranza tradition, the Queenmother, or Nkoranzamanhemaa, is traditionally regarded as the wife of the Asantehene and the sister of Amakomhene.
