“I’m Proud to Be a Truck Driver in America” – Pope Skinny

Story Highlights
  • Pope Skinny, Ghanaian rapper, now works as truck driver in US
  • Moved due to financial insecurity in Ghana's entertainment industry
  • Says truck driving brings him "financial stability"

Ghanaian rapper Pope Skinny has made a surprising career move, revealing that he is now working as a truck driver in the United States.

The artist explained that his decision was driven by the lack of financial security for entertainers in Ghana.

According to Pope Skinny, while entertainers in Ghana can enjoy success with hit songs, endorsements, and performances, there is no long-term financial plan or pension scheme in place for them. This, he noted, is why many veterans struggle in their later years.

Determined to secure his future, Pope Skinny moved to the US and took up truck driving—a job he said he would never have considered in Ghana.

“I’m proud to be a truck driver in America because it pays my bills. It’s a job I won’t do in Ghana, but nobody knows me here, so I am okay. It brings me financial stability,” he added.
