Habiba Sinare, ex-wife of Ghanaian footballer Majeed Waris, has issued a stern warning to critics who have been attacking her and her mother over her recent comments on Northern men.

Habiba had sparked controversy after declaring she would never marry a Northerner again, citing her painful experience with Waris. In a conversation with Ms. Gee, she revealed the emotional hurt caused by Waris prioritizing his family over their relationship.

“He told me he wouldn’t choose me over his family,” Habiba shared. “That sentence still echoes in my life. When he said that, I thought, ‘Wow, I wasn’t family after all.’ I told him, ‘I’m done. There’s nothing left. I don’t feel anything for you anymore.”

The comments drew backlash from some individuals who felt Habiba’s statement insulted men from her local area. However, she remains resolute in her stance and is now drawing a line against personal attacks.

“I’m open to criticism, but attacking my mother is off-limits,” Habiba cautioned, making it clear she will protect herself and her family from disrespect.
