Supporters of the controversial Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, often referred to as the “anti-gay bill,” will stage a demonstration in Accra today, October 8, to express their growing frustration over the ongoing delays in its final approval.

The bill, which was passed by Parliament on February 28, has been awaiting presidential assent.

The process has been further complicated by a Supreme Court ruling in July that postponed judgments on related anti-gay cases until all legal matters are addressed.

In an interview, the bill’s lead advocate and Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, urged the Chief Justice to expedite the resolution of the Supreme Court cases.

He argued that the Chief Justice has the authority to enforce strict deadlines for the filing of legal documents, ensuring a more timely resolution.

George emphasized the importance of swift justice in this matter, stating that “Justice delayed is justice denied.”

He called on the Chief Justice to take decisive action to prevent further delays in the approval of the bill.
