The 46-year-old wife has been arrested in connection with her husband’s death, which reportedly took place on the night of April 13, 2025, following a domestic dispute. According to preliminary police reports, the wife confessed to hitting Bainomugisha with a club on the back of his neck during an argument, which led to his immediate death. Afterward, she allegedly buried him in their bedroom.

Frank Mukama, the Rwengwe Sub-county chairperson, stated that local residents had become concerned after Bainomugisha went missing just before Easter. By Sunday evening, police were stationed at the house, awaiting the necessary court order to enter the bedroom and exhume the body.

The suspect, identified as Nshemererwe, was arrested on April 14 in Mbarara City while attempting to flee. She is currently detained at Buhweju Police Station. The exhumation will proceed once the legal formalities are completed.
