Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, has condemned former President John Mahama for allegedly using inflammatory rhetoric and turning public sentiment against the current NPP administration.

Speaking on Monday in Nsakina, Amasaman constituency, Greater Accra Region, Dr. Bawumia criticized Mahama’s recent statements.

Mahama had reportedly claimed that religious leaders, traditional rulers, and civil society organizations (CSOs) were being hypocritical by not addressing what he considers poor governance issues in the country.

He also purportedly criticized the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration, suggesting that if his government had faced similar economic difficulties, there would have been significant backlash from these groups.

Mahama’s comments included labeling the current government as “foolish” and implied that a coup would have been staged against his own government under similar circumstances.

In response, Dr. Bawumia urged that former Presidents should maintain decorum and avoid engaging in what he described as “politics of insults and hate speech,” which he believes could harm the nation’s peace and stability.

He suggested that Mahama’s aggressive rhetoric is a sign of desperation, indicating his anticipated defeat in the upcoming elections.

Dr. Bawumia criticized Mahama for lacking constructive ideas and relying instead on disparaging language.

He challenged Mahama to a debate, emphasizing his reliance on data and substantive arguments.

Dr. Bawumia asserted that his team has developed policies aimed at addressing the country’s challenges and called on voters to support him in the December 7 elections.

He highlighted the achievements of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration, claiming it has outperformed the previous Mahama-led government in various sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, and education.
