Otumfuo Dedicates UCC Honorary to Nananom
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has dedicated his 10th honorary doctorate degree to traditional leaders in his realm.
The honorary was conferred by the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in the Central Region on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
A day after receiving it, Otumfuo had the opportunity to address stakeholders during a dinner organized by the Chancellor of the institution, Sir Sam Jonah.
He used the occasion to underscore the critical role Nananom play in making his work seamless and flawless.
“To Nananom, I received this yesterday because you made it so. 25 years of your support made it possible for us to be recognized by this university and therefore the award was received in your honour. And to all those who supported us through this journey, I thank you also for your support and I still will count on you to give me the guidance and the support to be able to be a good leader for you and serve in humility and in integrity and to be truthful to you and God.”
He also expressed his gratitude to the University for the honour.
The UCC honoured the King in recognition of his service to Ghana and his contribution towards socio-economic growth.
He is the third traditional leader to be honoured by the university and the first outside the Central Region.
