The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched its 2024 manifesto, with Chairman of the Manifesto Planning Committee, Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, emphasizing that every policy in the document was carefully considered.
Dr. Otokunor reiterated the commitment made by NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama to hold an economic dialogue to revive the economy within the first 120 days in office, if elected. The NDC manifesto launch took place on Saturday, August 24, at the University of Education, Winneba. Dr. Otokunor stressed that the manifesto policies were thoroughly thought out to address the country’s challenges.
One key policy is to exempt new small businesses from corporate and personal income tax for the first two years after incorporation. The NDC also plans to review the Customs (Amendment) Act, 2020 (Act 1014) to scrap the ban on importation of salvaged vehicles.
Additionally, the party aims to save the local automotive industries, including Suame Magazine, Kokompe, and Abossey Okai. The NDC plans to implement a ‘Made in Ghana Agenda’ for production and consumption of Made-in-Ghana goods and launch an “Export Ghana Policy” to boost external trade.
The party also promises to enhance the role of Ghana EXIM Bank in financing non-traditional exports and introduce a Mo-Ne-Yo Pension Scheme for informal sector workers. The NDC’s manifesto outlines a comprehensive plan for business development, including support for small-scale miners, farmers, fishermen, traders, and market women.
