- Asiedu Nketia emphasized that the decision should be guided by the greater good of the country's progress
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused current government appointees of hoarding funds to sway voters ahead of the December 7 elections.
He is urging voters to accept any money offered to them, which he claims has been illicitly accumulated, but to prioritize long-term development by voting against these officials.
Addressing supporters at the launch of the NDC’s nationwide campaign in Adambrombe, Akuapem South, Eastern Region, Asiedu Nketia advised voters to accept financial incentives from political parties if presented.
However, he emphasized that decisions should be made based on what is best for the nation’s progress.
“If they offer you 5 or 10 cedis to vote for them, accept it as it is stolen money they’ve kept at home to influence you. They avoid depositing it in banks or sending it abroad to avoid detection. Use the money as it is rightfully yours. If they offer you gifts, accept them too,” he said.
He likened the situation to a thief who, after stealing from you, returns a portion and expects you to follow their demands under threat of punishment.
Asiedu Nketia reassured voters that accepting such money but choosing not to vote for the officials would have no negative repercussions for them.
