- Gardiner asserts his right to endorse a political party without fear of losing fans
- He advises Ghanaians to vote based on their economic experiences, saying "times are hard"
Actor James Gardiner has stated he is untroubled by losing followers and fans due to his political views. Gardiner, known for his roles in various films and television series, has made it clear that he will not be pressured into endorsing causes he does not believe in simply to maintain his popularity.
In a recent statement, Gardiner affirmed his stance on the matter: “If you’re not a fan of mine because I don’t support what you support, that’s okay. It means you probably weren’t meant to be a fan in the first place. Everyone has a choice, and I can’t please everyone. When the time is right, you will know where I stand,” he told MyJoyOnline.com.
Gardiner, who has previously supported the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 elections, stressed that while he may have some influence as a celebrity, it is ultimately up to individuals to make their own voting decisions. “Yes, I may influence some people with my choices, but I’m not forcing anyone to vote a certain way. Being able to vote means you’re mature enough to decide,” he explained.
The actor also addressed the issue of voting based on personal economic experiences. “Times are hard especially when it comes to business not thriving as it used to be, I feel Ghanaians should use whatever it is that they are going through, to vote on what they feel is best for them,” Gardiner advised.
