The Ghana Police Service has expressed approval of the smooth start to the nationwide Voters’ Register Exhibition, which commenced on Monday, August 19, 2024, and will run until August 27, 2024.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi commended the excellent cooperation from political parties and other stakeholders on the first day of the exhibition.
In a conversation, she noted the positive collaboration at various centers nationwide.
“The exercise has proceeded smoothly, and we are pleased with the cooperation from all parties involved. We aim to maintain this success throughout the exhibition,” she remarked.
ACP Ansah-Akrofi also acknowledged the effective teamwork between police officers and party agents at the centers. “We are satisfied with how party agents operated without any issues or restrictions. Their unhindered monitoring reflects well on the process, and we anticipate continued cooperation moving forward,” she added.
This positive feedback comes after assurances from Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
During a visit to the Electoral Commission on Monday, the IGP emphasized the preparedness of security agencies to support a peaceful and efficient exhibition.
He highlighted the deployment of personnel to all 38,622 polling stations and the establishment of a rapid response team focused on de-escalation.
“We are committed to ensuring a successful voter register exhibition. Our security teams are present at all polling stations, and our rapid response team is ready to manage any situation with a focus on de-escalation,” Dr. Dampare assured.
The ongoing exhibition is crucial for verifying the accuracy and reliability of the voters’ register ahead of the elections.
The Police have urged continued collaboration from all stakeholders to ensure the exercise’s smooth and successful conclusion.
