Hawa Koomson will be prosecuted, the NDC pledges.
- NDC vows to prosecute Hawa Koomson over failed policies.
- Alleged financial losses and mismanagement in MSDI projects.
- NDC to investigate One-Village-One-Dam and IPEP initiatives.
- Hawa Koomson to face prosecution for alleged violence in Kasoa.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has made a bold vow to prosecute Mavis Hawa Koomson, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, over the alleged failure of policies implemented by the Ministry of Special Development Initiative (MSDI). According to the NDC, these policies have resulted in significant financial losses to the state, and they intend to hold Hawa Koomson accountable.
The NDC’s Deputy General Secretary, Mustapha Gbande, revealed that a future NDC government would conduct a thorough investigation into initiatives like the One-Village-One-Dam project and the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP). These projects, spearheaded by the MSDI under Hawa Koomson’s leadership, were intended to provide communities with access to potable water and modernized toilet facilities but have allegedly failed.
Gbande suggested that the ministry may have been used by the NPP as a conduit to divert state funds, emphasizing the need to trace the financial losses linked to these projects, particularly the One-Village-One-Dam initiative. The NDC claims that the MSDI’s initiatives have not only failed to achieve their intended purposes but have also led to significant financial losses, which they believe must be investigated and addressed.
In addition to the alleged financial mismanagement, Gbande stated that a future NDC government would also prosecute Hawa Koomson for acts of violence believed to have been orchestrated against NDC members in Kasoa. He cited incidents such as the gunfire and motorbike attacks at the Steps to Christ registration centre in 2020 and the shooting on December 7, 2020, which injured three people, as matters that would be thoroughly investigated and addressed.
The NDC’s vow to prosecute Hawa Koomson is seen as a strong stance against alleged corruption and violence, and they intend to ensure accountability and justice. By investigating and prosecuting those responsible for the alleged failed policies and violent acts, the NDC aims to restore transparency and accountability in governance.
