In a recent media briefing, Alan Kyerematen, the independent presidential candidate and founder of the Movement for Change, introduced his Great Transformation Plan (GTP).
Alan Kyerematen underscored his dedication to empowering Ghana’s youth and tackling their economic challenges.
At the heart of Alan Kyerematen’s vision is a commitment to job creation. He promised to generate 3 million jobs within 18 months of taking office, with a strong focus on enhancing the private sector. “Youth employment is my foremost priority,” Kyerematen stated, emphasizing the need for an enterprise-driven economy to deliver sustainable job opportunities for young people.
Kyerematen’s plan includes significant support for young entrepreneurs, offering seed funding and concessional loans without requiring collateral. “Our objective is to create a thriving entrepreneurial environment,” he said, aiming to provide young individuals with the essential resources to launch and maintain their businesses.
In a bid to integrate younger generations into leadership roles, Kyerematen announced, “My vice president will be a young person.” Additionally, he pledged that 60% of his appointments will be individuals aged between 22 and 50, ensuring that youth have a major role in governance and decision-making.
The GTP also prioritizes education and skill development. Kyerematen supports the continuation of free Senior High School (SHS) education and proposed a mandatory, certified one-year internship for graduates. “This initiative will offer practical experience and open doors to entrepreneurship,” he noted.
Reflecting on his past contributions, Kyerematen shared, “When Mandela aimed to develop black businesses in the ’90s, I was among the seven experts invited to contribute.” His dedication to nurturing young talent and promoting economic independence is evident in his proposed policies.
Alan Kyerematen’s Great Transformation Plan outlines a thorough strategy for youth empowerment, focusing on job creation, entrepreneurial support, and substantial youth representation in governance. His vision seeks to build a more inclusive and dynamic future for Ghana by actively involving the younger generation in critical roles and ensuring their input shapes the nation’s progress.
