The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a strong warning to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), vowing to resist any unlawful attempts to win the upcoming December 7 elections. This response comes after comments made by the Member of Parliament for Abetifi and Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong, who claimed that the NPP would do everything possible to win the December polls.
The NDC’s Deputy General Secretary, Mustapha Gbande, spoke to Citi News, stating that the party will identify and address any individual or group of persons threatening Ghana’s democracy. Gbande emphasized that the NDC will not tolerate any unlawful behavior, saying, “We will not burn the sea, and I can assure Bryan Acheampong that the nonsense that they showed Ghanaians in 2020, a repetition of same will make people like himself victims of their schemes.”
He continued, “Ghana will not die. Ghana will stay strong. Ghana will stay united. But we will fish out hoodlums and hot-headed people like Bryan Acheampong who are a danger and a threat to our democracy.” Gbande assured that the NDC will take action against anyone attempting to engage in unlawful behavior, saying, “I can give him that assurance that an inch of an attempt to do what is unlawful will be fiercely resisted and the persons who will be engaged will be singled out and dealt with.”
He emphasized that the NDC will stop at nothing to protect Ghana’s democracy, stating, “It doesn’t matter what it takes for us to do that. That will be done.” Gbande’s comments come as tensions rise ahead of the December elections, with both parties vying for power.
The NDC’s warning to the NPP serves as a reminder that any attempts to undermine Ghana’s democracy will not be tolerated. The NDC has made it clear that they will fiercely resist any unlawful attempts by the NPP to win the upcoming elections, and will take action against anyone threatening Ghana’s democracy.
