TikTok Book Awards 2024: Lisa Jewell and Rebecca Yarros Among Winners

The TikTok Book Awards for 2024 took place in London, with winners selected by the #BookTok community on the video-sharing app. Thousands of members voted for their favorite books, authors, and creators.

Lisa Jewell’s psychological thriller, “None of This Is True,” was named Book of the Year. The British author expressed her surprise and gratitude, saying, “I genuinely can’t believe it… my mind is blown to be honest!”

Rebecca Yarros’ adult fantasy novel, “Fourth Wing,” won International Book of the Year. The US author shared a video message, thanking the #BookTok community for their support.

The shortlist was chosen by a panel of literary and media figures, but the winners were selected by the #BookTok community, with 82,000 votes cast online. TikTok reports over 35 million videos have been made using the hashtag “BookTok,” making it one of the platform’s largest sub-communities.

The awards aim to celebrate beloved books, independent book shops, authors, and creators on the social media platform. Jack Edwards, a YouTuber and TikTok creator, sat on the judging panel and praised the opportunity to champion more creators and books.

Edwards, known as the “internet’s resident librarian,” has amassed a large following on TikTok and YouTube. He began creating content on YouTube, sharing his university experience, before shifting to book content during the Covid-19 pandemic. He is now writing his own book, inspired by his love of storytelling and storytellers.
