Chamber of Independent Power Producers Ghana CEO Gives Back to UHAS

The University of Allied Sciences (UHAS) has received a donation of 20 streetlights from the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Independent Power Producers, Ghana, Dr. Elikplim Kwabla Apetorgbor. The streetlights, worth 14 thousand Cedis, will significantly improve campus lighting and enhance security.

The donation addresses a critical illumination issue on campus, which directly impacts the safety and well-being of the university community. Vice President of UHAS Alumni, Jemima Misonu Akporlu, presented the lights on behalf of Dr. Apetorgbor.

Jemima Misonu Akporlu highlighted a recent incident where four students were attacked by unknown assailants while returning to their hostel from campus. This incident underscored the need for improved lighting and security on campus.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Lydia Aziato, received the streetlights and expressed gratitude to Dr. Apetorgbor. She assured that the lights would be promptly installed to boost campus security and improve night-time visibility.

Prof. Aziato also took the opportunity to appeal to other organizations and benevolent individuals to support the University. She emphasized the importance of collaboration and support in enhancing the university’s infrastructure and services.

The occasion was also used to introduce the UHAS SONAM Alumni Executives, comprising Mr. Obed Kweku Amenyo (President), Ms. Mary Adaeze Udeoha (Secretary), Mr. Fabian Normenyo Etse (Financial Secretary), and Mr. Julius Okine (Organiser).

The Registrar, Ms. Yaa Amankwaa Opuni, and Prof. Frank Edwin, Dean of the School of Medicine, were also present at the ceremony.

Dr. Apetorgbor’s donation is a timely response to the university’s needs and demonstrates his commitment to supporting education and community development. The installation of the streetlights is expected to have a positive impact on campus life, providing a safer and more secure environment for students, staff, and faculty.
