Special aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has taken a jab at communicators of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the recent utterances of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to the flagbearer of the NPP.

Mogtari says the NPP communicators are struggling to defend the comments made by Dr. Opoku Prempeh, which has caused them significant discomfort.

She took to social media to taunt the NPP communicators, saying “Our dear friends in the media, John Mahama is the most newsworthy leader in Ghana, honest, trustworthy, and sincere! Join him to build the Ghana we want! #MahamaConversations”.

Mogtari continued, “Please NPP communicators are crying because Napo has finished them, continue crying ok, John Mahama is the real deal! Newsworthy, trustworthy, credible, and honest! Forget the hopeless, loose-talking pair, they are pathetic”.

Her comments come on the back of Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s statement at his unveiling ceremony in Kumasi, where he claimed that no president in Ghana’s history has developed the country more than President Akufo-Addo, including Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s comment sparked controversy among Ghanaians, with many criticizing his statement as inaccurate and disrespectful to Ghana’s first president. The Convention Peoples Party (CPP) has even called on Dr. Opoku Prempeh to apologize for his comments, failing which they have threatened to hit the streets in protest.

The CPP also called on President Akufo-Addo to withdraw Dr. Opoku Prempeh as Minister of Energy and Vice Presidential candidate, citing the need to protect the country’s image and long-term political and economic fortunes.

Mogtari’s taunts at the NPP communicators are a clear indication that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is ready to take on the ruling party in the upcoming elections. The battle of words between the two parties is expected to intensify in the coming months, with the NDC seeking to capitalize on the perceived weaknesses of the NPP.
