John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reaffirmed his dedication to the Free Senior High School (SHS) initiative and pledged to enhance its effectiveness should he win the upcoming presidential elections.


During a press briefing in Accra on Sunday, Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s President from 2012 to 2017, emphasized the enduring importance of the Free SHS policy in ensuring equitable access to education for all Ghanaians.

“The Free SHS policy is here to stay, and my commitment lies in improving its implementation,” Mahama asserted, addressing journalists.

He reiterated his stance against accusations of opposition to the policy, stressing that his focus remains on supporting and refining it to address current challenges effectively.

Regarding the upcoming Free SHS Bill set for Parliamentary review, Mahama expressed readiness to endorse any amendments aimed at bolstering and sustaining the policy.
