- Bolgatanga was dark under previous administration.
- Library road lights didn't work for 20 years.
- Current government improved lighting in the municipality.
- MCE committed to maintaining street lights.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Bolgatanga, Mr. Rex Asanga, has revealed that the town was plagued by darkness under the previous administration, despite significant investments in street lighting. According to Mr. Asanga, many street lights across the municipality were non-functional, leaving the town vulnerable to crime and darkness.
He specifically highlighted the street lights along the library road, which had never worked for twenty years, making people forget they even existed. Mr. Asanga attributed the transformation of the town’s lighting system to the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, which has expanded the lightning system in the Bolgatanga Municipality.
He noted that the government has installed lights from Winkogo to Sumbrungu, brightening up the streets and improving security. The MCE was responding to concerns from the public during a live radio discussion on GBC URA Radio in Bolgatanga.
He emphasized that the Bolgatanga municipality has seen the best lightning system in the last seven years, with over GHc200,000 spent to revive dead street lights. Mr. Asanga assured listeners that his administration is committed to maintaining the street lights and ensuring they remain functional.
He contracted a specialist to repair the lights, and efforts are being made to keep them on to improve security and sanitation in the municipality. Mr. Asanga’s administration is working to transform Bolgatanga, and the improved lighting system is a testament to their efforts.
